The bathing machine was a device, popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, to allow people to change out of their usual clothes, possibly change into swimwear and then wade in the ocean at beaches. Bathing machines were roofed and walled wooden carts rolled into the sea. Some had solid wooden walls; others had canvas walls over a wooden frame.
The bathing machine was part of sea-bathing etiquette more rigorously enforced upon women than men but to be observed by both sexes among those who wished to be “proper”.
Especially in Britain, men and women were usually segregated, so nobody of the opposite sex might catch sight of them in their bathing suits, which were not considered proper clothing to be seen in.

Once mixed gender bathing became socially acceptable, the days of the bathing machine were numbered.

Sheep were one of the earliest animals to be domesticated for agricultural purposes, sheep are raised for fleece, meat (lamb, hogget or mutton) and milk.

The domestic sheep is a multi-purpose animal, and the more than 200 breeds now in existence were created to serve these diverse purposes.

Churras and Merinos are 2 of those breeds, one for excellent milk production, the other excellent for wool production but if you mix them you got neither good wool neither good milk production. So, as it is said in Spain, do not mix churras with merinos trying to get maximum benefit because sometimes it doesn’t work that way.

Happy new year to everybody.

I have too many many projects and hopes for this 2010 :) But let’s see what you can expect here.

2009 fails and lessons:

Big fail, TBF 2009 total income 0$. The goal was to help with hosting.

WP security is important and it can be a pain.

Grid hosting systems are great but there are still issues.

Sometimes Flickr images are not showing despite of being there.

So for TBF I want to achieve 3 things this 2010:

Fix unexpected DB issues. Some posts were affected (images, links, credits and images text have been changing, sorry I don’t have the time to fix this) and I haven’t found why this was happening, so I will probably will change hosting. If I manage to solve this issue I will try to automatize photo and data photo insertion. It is all manual now because it relies on insert order and it failed.

Fix blog security issues, link injection has been a pain since summer.

Fix the flickr image not showing despite of being there. The solution probably will be to host the images but this can consume a lot of bandwidth and I have to read the flickr guidelines.

For money I will only consider sponsorship related to photography, travels, sciences and culture.

Jacques Offenbach – Barcarolle , from ‘The Tales of Hoffmann‘ a piece of the 2010 New Year concert at Vienna, that my sister likes. The Barcarolle has been incorporated into many movies including Life Is Beautiful and Titanic. Offenbach died with Les contes d’Hoffmann unfinished.

How can I end a post related with New Year’s Concert without the Radetzky March? :) Enjoy!
